New projects

Hi there, I've been pretty busy these last days. I'm right now working on 2 projects besides Tiny Life, so here I'm showing a picture of one of them.

I can't talk a lot about them, so barely speaking, the color page it's for a project where different scenes from movies are taken and crazy twists are given, plus original scripts of the creators.

About the other project, the story consists of a group of women who foment a rebellion.

By the way, another year is about to pass. I'd like to send my best wishes for the next year for everyone out there reading this. Thanks for your visit.

The Old Man Game

I've been working on some small animations and backgrounds for the game.

I had the wonderful chance to start working on pixel art among so talented artists such as Gonzalo Villagomez - 'Gonzo' and Paul Davis (his impressive CV includes video games like GTA4, San Andreas, Manhunt and Manhunt II).

New sketches for Tiny Life

These are the new versions of the characters for the next book of Tiny Life. They're younger, and a bit more realistic in some aspects.

The full body views were the firsts attempts, then the faces are the more defined versions.

I've been dividing the new script in pages lately and I think I'll be starting with story boards for the pages pretty soon.

Drawing...

I've been drawing this illustration just for fun, during a recent meeting of Cablenube's members. The plan is to create an original script to work on it as a team, which is already advanced in the firsts stages of development.

Here's another page that I've been doing these days, it's not related to the previous post, this one is a test for a work.

Superhero Comic Sample

Here's a sample of the new style I'm developing, in this case it's superhero oriented, but I think I can make it pretty flexible for different kind of stories.
I'll be probably working on 4 pages more.
Anyway, I'll still be using my crosshatching style when could be needed.

Latest sketches

Hello there, these are some of the latest drawings that I've been doing. I can't tell anything about the project or the creator, but I wanted to show a bit of the new style I'm developing for my work in comics.

Pixel Art

I've been introduced to pixel art and I found it quite interesting. As a result I started my first attempt and here's what I've done, a toonish self-portrait.
Then I've done a portrait of one of my characters. I'll be probably experimenting a bit more with this.

Practice

I've been drawing and coloring this illustration based on a picture of an actress, just for practice and exercise.

New pin-up

'Cambryan Saga: The world before the waters'. It's the title of the graphic novel written by Kevin Monk. This is a pin-up presenting the main characters.

New Illustrations

I've been working with the writer and creator Kevin Monk from Port Nova Media in order to create some illustrations and pin-ups.
Here are two of them, one is for a project called 'MegaHeroes' which involves 'retro' superheroes, who look more or less like in the 80's.
The other illustration is the cover for a Role Playing Game called 'Astral Empires', which was created by Kevin.

Camouflage

This is the same tank as before, but with different camos according to different war fronts.
The lineal drawing is a different version of the previous that I've uploaded. This one is much more accurate in the measures according to the real tank.

Jagdtiger

This is in what I've been working during these days. Vehicles' illustrations from the World War 2. It's a very good opportunity to draw and color in a more technical way.

Styles samples

Hi, here's a sample of character design done for a work. It's more or less according to Ken Akamatsu’s style.
The other is more Toon, and it's also for a work. I've uploaded them to show more variety of the styles I can do.

New drawings

These are some new drawings I've been doing in these days. They are completely done fast on the Wacom tablet, and also vectorized. I was looking for a modern style, maybe for using it in a new short story.

She-Commando

Hi there, here's a drawing I've been doing today, just for fun. Isn't finished and this isn't the full drawing, but I wanted to upload this part of the process.
It's colored in photoshop and made vector with CorelDRAW X3.
I'll be changing a few things and surely recoloring it.
I'll be uploading some new illustrations soon.

Submission

During these days I've been preparing five pages for a submission. This is the first page.

I'll be working in the next days in a new short story for submission to different places. I'll be trying to make each page in two different styles, one 'mainstream' and the other my personal style.

In order to achieve that, I'll have to do a lineal drawing style and consider it like the mainstream style, then I could apply lights and shadows, textures and different effects to transform it into my personal style. We'll see what happens.

In the other hand, I'll start to finish some old scripts to have them ready for a writer submission.

Short Story - Page 6 preview

Hi, here I'm presenting the page 6 from a short story that I've been doing these days. It's just for fun but I'll be probably submitting it somewhere once it's finished. It's also useful for expanding my gallery.

I'm also working on Shugendo, a warriors path. I'll be uploading some more preview pages soon.

Coloring

Drawing and coloring just for fun.

I've done the volumes in grayscales, then I've applied the colors with the 'tone/saturation' option in photoshop.

Then I've adjusted the light a bit with the 'lighting effect' option.

Finally I've adjusted the mid-tones and shadows with the 'levels' option.

Self-portrait

My first attempt at vector art using Photoshop.

It's a self-portrait though I was younger at the time of that picture.

I'll be experimenting a bit more with this to see what happens.

Tiny Life: Issue 3 preview

Here's the preview of page 17 from Tiny Life #3.

In this issue Jed gets back to the house where he lived when was a kid, and he finds it almost in ruins.

He's searching for clues of his past and his parents' past. The story starts to give a mystic turn.

The script, inks, digital textures and lettering are the work of Nick Jones, president of Sliver ltd.
